World Oceans Day Celebration with David Suzuki Foundation

Join an online celebration. We invite you join us at noon Pacific time on World Oceans Day (Tuesday, June 8) to celebrate southern resident orcas through story, song and science.

The event will open with a live performance of "Yéw̓yews," the “Orca Song,” by Foundation friend and world-renowned Chinook SongCatchers founder Latash Maurice Nahanee.

Sit back for an hour to enjoy a live reading from Orca Chief by Roy Henry Vickers, followed by a conversation about the amazing Salish Sea orcas.

  • Roy Henry Vickers, celebrated artist and author of Orca Chief

  • Latash Maurice Nahanee, singer, composer, choreographer and co-founder of Chinook SongCatchers

  • Lynda Mapes, Seattle Times award-winning nature reporter and author of the new book, Orca: Shared Waters, Shared Home

  • Jeffery Young, senior science and policy analyst, David Suzuki Foundation
